SA Solar Feed In Tariff Deadline

SA may well be able to challenge QLD for the slogan of the sunshine state, not based on the climate, but rather the amount of solar installed on homes across the state. Around 20% of suitable homes in SA already have solar installed thanks to some of the most generous solar subsidies in the country. Currently SA has one of the highest solar feed in tariffs in the country at 25.8c per kWh (based on 16c tariff paid by the Government and 9.8c by the electricity retailer). However, that is set to be slashed by 60% on September 30, as the 16c Government payment ends.

Those who sign up after the September 30 deadline, will only receive the 9.8c retailer payment, however, this may not last for very long. We wrote about the SA Feed in tariff being threatened in May this year.

To be eligible for the current Feed-in Tariff, you need to sign up and pay your deposit by September 30.

While it may seem like there is still a lot of time to sign up before the deadline, those waiting may miss out. Several State Governments have cut their subsidies early; before the advertised deadline – leading to thousands of people missing out.

In conjunction with power prices rising, now is the perfect time to take advantage and go solar. Take advantage today before it’s too late.
